The Department of Physics at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part‑Time Lecturer Pool.

Teach courses in the following subject areas:

• Introductory Physics – Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, Modern Physics
• Upper Division Physics – Analytical Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Quantum Mechanics, Statistical Physics

Appointments are made on a temporary basis, often just prior to the start of an academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice.

• Masters/PhD degree in Physics or related field, or equivalent experience.

• Prior teaching experience at the university level.
• Relevant performance and professional experience.
• Significant teaching experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, inclusive environment.

Faculty are most needed during Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins late August and ends mid‑December; the Spring term runs mid‑January through end of May. Part‑time faculty may also be needed during Summer Session segments on rare occasions.

Regular evaluations are conducted by the department in accordance with the CSU Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. Evaluations determine retention for future teaching assignments. Syllabi, assignments, and reading material may be reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.

All part‑time faculty appointments are as Lecturers under the terms of the CSU collective bargaining agreement. Initial appointments are for one semester only.

Classification range: $5,507 – $6,677 per month (anticipated hiring range not to exceed $6,221 per month).

Monthly base salaries are prorated to the number of units taught and paid in six monthly payments per full semester. For a three‑unit assignment, typical compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.

Appointing is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Continued employment requires completion of a current background screening per CSU policy. Faculty rehired after a service gap of 12 or more months must undergo a new background check.

The position holder is a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083 (updated July 21, 2017) as a condition of employment.
