The Department of American Studies at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part‑Time Lecturer Pool.
AppointmentAll appointments are made as Lecturers under the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association. Initial appointments are for one semester only.

Required
- Ph.D., ABD or M.A. in American Studies or a related field
Preferred
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with culturally diverse students, including first‑generation college students
- Experience creating a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
- Relevant professional experience and professional capabilities that enrich the curriculum
The need for part‑time faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term runs from late August to mid‑December; the Spring term runs from mid‑January to the end of May. Rarely, part‑time faculty are needed during a Summer Session segment.
Performance EvaluationRegular evaluations are conducted by the department in accord with the Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These evaluations determine future teaching assignments and may include a review of syllabi, assignments, and reading material by the departmental personnel committee.
Salary & Compensation- Classification range: $5,507 – $6,677 per month
- Anticipated hiring range (depending on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per month)
- Compensation is prorated to the number of units worked and paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. Typical starting compensation for a three‑unit assignment ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.
