Civil and Environmental Engineering - Part-Time Lecturer Pool
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part‑Time Lecturer Pool. We seek individuals who are passionate about teaching and sharing their practical experience in Civil Engineering courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The pool is utilized as needed; appointments are temporary and often made immediately prior to the start of a term, requiring applicants to be available on very short notice.
Required Qualifications- A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering and at least two years of work experience in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Demonstrated excellent preparation in Civil Engineering and ongoing industry experience.
- Proficiency in online teaching strategies.
- Prior university‑level teaching experience.
- Ability to interact effectively with a wide, culturally diverse student population, including first‑generation college students.
- A Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- A Professional Engineer (PE) or other appropriate license/certification to teach design courses.
- Significant teaching experience with diverse populations and a history of fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
- Relevant work experience and professional capabilities that enhance course content.

Compensation and BenefitsAll part‑time appointments are made as lecturers under the CSU Collective Bargaining Agreement and are for one semester only. The monthly classification range is $5,507 to $6,677, with an anticipated hiring range up to $6,221 depending on qualifications. Compensation is prorated to the number of units worked and paid in six monthly installments per full semester. For a three‑unit assignment, typical starting compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.

Regular performance evaluations of part‑time lecturers are conducted by the department in accordance with the CSU Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These evaluations determine retention for future teaching assignments.
Legal and Background RequirementsAppointment holders are mandated reporters under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083 (July 21, 2017). This offer is contingent upon satisfactory background check completion; employment may be rescinded if disqualifying information is discovered.
