The Department of Theatre and Dance at CSU Fullerton invites applications for part-time lecturer positions in all areas of theatre and dance. Teaching responsibilities may include instruction in voice, theory, history, and various dance disciplines.
Part-time positions at CSUF may be eligible for a benefits package, depending on the assigned credit/unit load each semester.
This is a pool of part-time lecturers from which the department will draw as needs arise. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions become available.
Appointments from the part-time pool are temporary and are often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants should be prepared to accept assignments on short notice.
Required Qualifications
- A Master of Fine Arts Degree in Theatre or Dance
- Prior teaching experience at the university level
- Demonstrated ability to teach, engage, and work effectively with a diverse student population, including first-generation college students
Preferred Qualifications
- Preference will be given to those with significant teaching experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
- Preference will also be given to those with relevant performance and professional experience.

The need for part-time faculty is greatest during the Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term typically begins in late August and concludes in mid-December, while the Spring term extends from mid-January through the end of May. On an occasional basis, part-time faculty appointments may also be made during Summer Session.
Regular performance evaluations of part-time lecturers are conducted by the department in accordance with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement (UPS) 210.070. These evaluations inform decisions regarding retention and eligibility for future teaching assignments.
All part-time faculty appointments are made at the Lecturer rank, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the California State University (CSU) system and the California Faculty Association (CFA). Initial appointments are for one academic term.
Classification Range: $5,507 - $6,677 per month
Anticipated Hiring Range:
Up to $6,221 per month, commensurate with qualifications
The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salary indicated above is prorated based on the number of units assigned and is paid in six monthly installments per semester. For a three-unit assignment, the typical starting compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.
