Assistant Professor in Motor Control, Motor Learning

The Department of Kinesiology at California State University, Fullerton invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the areas of Motor Control, Motor Learning, or related disciplines with an appointment to begin Fall 2027. This position is open to candidates with training in a variety of areas, but preference will be given to scholars whose training and work focuses on balance and postural control, neuromotor function, and fall prevention in aging populations.

Primary teaching assignments will include both introductory and upper-level motor control and motor learning courses.

The primary responsibilities of the person in this position will include the development and teaching of introductory and core courses in the discipline, and the development of courses in their area(s) of specialization. This person will also be responsible for producing scholarship / creative work commensurate with the requirements for tenure. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to and participate in the life and development of the department, advise students, serve on committees, and participate in the broader university and disciplinary communities.

Required qualifications include an earned doctorate in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Neuroscience, or a related field by the time of appointment, a strong foundation/training in Motor Control and/or Motor Learning theories and research techniques, demonstrated ability/potential to provide high-quality undergraduate and graduate education, demonstrated ability/potential to work with a diverse student population, record of scholarship in their respective area of specialization, and a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in teaching, scholarship, and/or service.

Application materials must be received by October 1st, 2026. The anticipated appointment date is August 16, 2027. Salary offered is commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, the California Equal Pay Act prohibits employers from paying its employees less than those of the opposite sex and/or another race or ethnicity for substantially similar work.
