Job Title
The Fullerton School District is seeking qualified individuals to assist teachers by instructing students, individually or in groups, and possibly relieving teachers of routine clerical duties.
Position DetailsThis position works less than 20 hours per week, a 9.5-month position with paid holidays, sick leave, and vacation. This position usually works between 3.00 to 3.75 hours per day, Monday to Friday. Requires availability from 8 a.m.
-11:30 a.m. or 8:30 a.m.
-12 p.m. Hours for future openings may vary depending on school site needs. An eligibility list will be established for future part-time openings.
Education:
Equivalent to graduation from high school or GED is required. Must also show sufficiency in educational requirements by meeting one of the following requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA), formerly known as the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB):
Possession of two years of higher education (i.e., 48 units or more);
Or Possession of an Associate's Degree or higher from an institution of higher learning accredited as recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation;
Or Possession of proof that indicates you have passed the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST);
Or Obtain a passing score on the Fullerton School District Preliminary Instructional Assistant Proficiency Assessment
NOTE:
Failure to include the required documentation (transcripts or degree) will result in the applicant being required to take and pass the Instructional Assistant ESSA exam.
Experience:
Recent paid or volunteer experience working with children or youth groups.
This will be a merged promotional and open competitive recruitment. Applications will be accepted from all qualified individuals. The examination may consist of written, performance, and oral examinations. To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each part of the examination. Final scores will be obtained by combining the relative weights of scores on each part of the examination.
If Veteran's credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Commission Office at the same time the application form is submitted or before testing. The resulting eligibility list will be used for up to six months to fill vacancies. Date of Examination The date of the examination(s) will be announced at a later date.
Candidates who are among the most qualified shall be notified by email, writing, and/or telephone of the time, date, and place of the examination(s). Applicants who may need reasonable accommodation for interviewing or testing must notify the Personnel Department at before the testing date.
