We invite applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor position in public relations at California State University, Fullerton. The appointment will begin in August 2027. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of public relations education by teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, mentoring students, and conducting research aligned with university tenure criteria.
- Teach a variety of public relations courses, including PR writing, ethics, corporate and nonprofit PR, and capstone projects.
- Develop and deliver engaging instruction in classroom, lab, and studio settings.
- Mentor students and advise them on career paths.
- Maintain an active research agenda in public relations, strategic communications, or related disciplines.
- Participate in service activities at the department, college, and university levels.
- Contribute to curriculum development, accreditation processes, and student assessment.
- Teach evening and graduate‑level courses as needed to support a diverse student body.
- Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in mass communications, strategic communications, communications, or a related field.
- Professional experience in public relations or a closely related field, including agency, corporate, nonprofit, or in‑house work.
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching.
- Ability to balance teaching, scholarship, and collaborative service activities.
- Capability to deliver a wide range of PR courses.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with culturally diverse audiences.
- Evidence of scholarly or creative accomplishments in public relations, strategic communications, or related fields.
- Experience integrating digital communications, social media analytics, content creation, or emerging technologies into teaching and scholarship.
- Membership in PRSA or equivalent professional associations.
- Experience with accreditation, curriculum development, and student learning assessment.
- Leadership in high‑impact student mentoring and professional engagement initiatives.
- Professional network with industry contacts.
