Graduation Specialist, College of Engineering and Computer Science (Student Services Professional III)

Classification: Student Services Professional III

Department: Undeclared and Academic Advising department within the Division of Academic Affairs supports undergraduate students—especially those who have not yet declared a major—by providing comprehensive academic advising and major exploration guidance.

Salary Range: $5,540 - $6,128 per month

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; occasional early morning, evening and/or weekend hours.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four‑year college or university or equivalent, supplemented by upper‑division or graduate coursework in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution, plus three years of professional student services experience. A master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience; a doctoral degree may substitute for three years of experience.
• Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, supervise, and organize programs and activities.
• Ability to interact with a diverse student population, faculty, staff, and the public.
• Ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action.
• Ability to advise students individually and in groups on complex student‑related matters.
• Ability to complete assignments without detailed instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals.
• Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to acquire knowledge of campus procedures, activities, and the overall organization.
• A background check, including a criminal records check, must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment.

• Experience advising students in a higher‑education setting.
• Evidence of implementing a solution‑based approach to facilitate graduation and student academic success.

• Regular attendance is an essential job function; inability to meet attendance requirements may preclude the employee from retaining employment.
• Employee/applicant may be required to successfully complete job‑related performance tests as part of the selection process.
• As of January 1, 2022, the CSU Out‑of‑State Employment Policy prohibits hiring employees to perform CSU‑related work outside the state of California.
• The person holding this position is a general mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with the requirement outlined in CSU Executive Order 1083, revised July 21, 2017.
