Position Overview

Area of specialty:
Mental health and/or addiction studies with emphasis on clinical/direct service engagement, integrating an approach that serves individuals, families, and communities. Candidates should align with our mission to prepare undergraduates for diverse populations and demonstrate commitment to equity, belonging, and social justice.

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate courses in mental health, addiction studies, case management, and community‑based interventions.
  • Engage in scholarship and other scholarly activities.
  • Serve the department, college, university, community, and profession through mentoring, committee participation, and community collaboration.
Required Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate in human services or a closely related field (e.g., counseling, social work, psychology, public health, family studies, human development, applied anthropology) from an accredited institution before appointment.
  • Commitment and ability to work with diverse undergraduate students, understanding the impact of lived experiences on learning.
  • Ability to teach lower‑ and upper‑division undergraduate courses related to mental health, addiction studies, case management, and community‑based interventions.
  • Experience providing clinical or applied services to individuals, families, and/or communities, particularly those impacted by mental health or addiction challenges, using culturally responsive approaches.
  • Demonstrated research and scholarly activities in mental health, addiction, or family/community systems.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a culturally diverse campus community.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Undergraduate teaching experience.
  • Experience with evidence‑based teaching and community engagement.
  • Potential to secure external funding for research or community‑engaged initiatives.

Compensation and Benefits

The Assistant Professor classification salary range is $6,221 to $13,224 monthly (12 payments). The anticipated hiring range is $6,808 to $6,944 per month. Benefits include health, vision, dental plans, spousal and dependent fee‑waiver, campus child‑care access, and a defined‑benefit retirement plan.
