The Division of Politics, Administration and Justice at California State University, Fullerton invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Criminal Justice (COURTS) with an appointment to begin Fall 2027.

The Department of Criminal Justice within the Division of Politics, Administration & Justice invites applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track faculty position specializing in courts and judicial processes. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, fostering critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
Pedagogical Responsibilities- Teach a core course on criminal courts, a breadth requirement for criminal justice students.
- Create new court‑related courses in specialized areas such as appellate advocacy, procedural justice, judicial decision‑making, jurors and juries, or international courts.
- Develop high‑impact practices for students, including Moot Court, Mock Trial, and/or service‑learning courses.
Successful candidates will engage in superb teaching, advisement, and mentorship, and undertake meritorious service at the department, college, university, and community levels. Positive tenure and promotion decisions require excellence collectively in teaching, scholarship, and service.
Required Qualifications- Ph.D. in legal studies, law and society, sociology, psychology, or a related field at the time of appointment.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching a diverse undergraduate student population, including first‑generation college students, low‑socioeconomic students, and historically minoritized students.
- Potential for or demonstrated ability to teach criminal courts.
- Potential for or demonstrated ability to contribute to curricular growth/development of the criminal justice major.
- Potential for or demonstrated ability to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
- A strong record of, or potential to produce, scholarly publications.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
- Ability to balance excellent teaching, scholarship, and service.
- Potential for or demonstrated ability to lead existing or develop new high‑impact practices for students.
