Director of Financial Aid
California State University, Fullerton is searching for a Director of Financial Aid. The role involves managing the university’s comprehensive financial aid program, administering over $300 million in aid funds, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and CSU regulations.
Responsibilities- Lead and supervise the financial aid staff, providing strong leadership, professional development, and team building.
- Develop and implement institutional policies and procedures for distributing student aid funds.
- Oversee organizational policies within an integrated computerized environment and manage technology implementations.
- Advocate and communicate with the university community to promote the financial aid program.
- Collaborate with partners within the institution and external communities to support a diverse student population.
- Conduct long‑range planning, impact and risk assessment, and goal identification for the program.
- Maintain accurate records and file required conflict of interest and ethics training documentation.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in a college or university setting, with at least four years in financial aid at the director or associate director level.
- Experience with staff motivation, supervision, training, and employee relations.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work with a diverse, multicultural workforce.
- Experience with new technological system implementations, particularly in People Soft environments.
- Leadership experience in establishing partnerships within complex organizations.
- Background check (criminal records) must be completed satisfactorily.
- Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience working with a diverse student population in a public college or university setting.
- Experience with strategic enrollment management models.
- Occasional early morning, evening, and weekend hours.
- Prior to start, file Conflict of Interest Form 700 and complete CSU sponsored ethics training within 30 days of hire, and annually thereafter.
- Compliance with the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and CSU Executive Order 1083.
- Regular attendance is essential; inability to meet attendance may result in loss of employment.
- Required to pass job‑related performance tests as part of the selection process.
