The Department of Kinesiology at California State University, Fullerton invites applications for a tenure‑track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the areas of Motor Control, Motor Learning, or related disciplines, with an appointment to begin Fall 2027. Preference will be given to scholars whose training and work focuses on balance and postural control, neuromotor function, and fall prevention in aging populations.

Position

CSUF faculty are teacher‑scholars who bring research and discovery into the classroom, advise students, and serve on departmental and university committees. Primary responsibilities include developing and teaching introductory and core courses such as Human Motor Control and Learning, Motor Control and Movement Dysfunction, Physical Activity and The Aging Process, Functional Performance Assessment and Programming for Older Adults, and Advanced Study in Human Motor Control and Learning.

The candidate will also produce scholarship commensurate with tenure requirements, advise students, and participate in departmental, university, and disciplinary communities.

Required Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Neuroscience, or a related field by the time of appointment;
  • A strong foundation in Motor Control and/or Motor Learning theories and research techniques;
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high‑quality undergraduate and graduate education;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student population, including first‑generation college students;
  • Record of scholarship in a relevant area of specialization;
  • A demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in teaching, scholarship, and/or service.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expertise in balance and postural control, fall prevention, or neuromotor rehabilitation, especially in aging populations;
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to secure external funding;
  • Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration across kinesiology, aging science, gerontology, physical therapy, or public health;
  • Familiarity with high‑impact teaching practices such as service‑learning or community‑based learning.
