The Department of Geological Sciences invites applications for a Part‑Time Lecturer role in the department’s Part‑Time Lecturer Pool. Qualified candidates will be contacted when teaching assignments become available. The appointments are short‑term, typically beginning just before the start of a semester, and require availability on short notice.
ResponsibilitiesLecturers will teach courses in geological sciences at the university level, incorporating field and laboratory components and supporting student research. Duties include preparing course materials, delivering instruction, grading, and collaborating with colleagues to foster an inclusive learning environment.
Required Qualifications- Advanced degree in Geology or a related field (Master’s, PhD, etc.).
- University‑level teaching experience.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of students, including first‑generation college students.
- Extensive teaching experience with diverse student populations in a collaborative, inclusive setting.
- Professional experience and performance records in geology or related disciplines.

Appointment and SalaryAppointments are made as Lecturers under the CSU–CFA agreement and are initially for one semester. Compensation is based on units taught, ranging from approximately $5,550 to $6,677 per month (not to exceed $6,221 based on qualifications). For a three‑unit assignment, the typical starting compensation is $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.
