Physiology Biology – Part‑Time Lecturer Pool

The Department of Biological Science at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Physiology Biology Part‑Time Lecturer Pool.

We welcome applicants who are experienced and student‑centered and who can teach the following subject areas:

  • General Biology (lecture or lab)
  • Human Anatomy (lecture or lab)
  • Vertebrate Anatomy (lecture or lab)
  • Human Physiology (lecture or lab)
  • General Human Physiology (lecture or lab)
  • Comparative Animal Physiology (lecture and lab)
  • Cellular Neurobiology
  • Plant Cell Physiology
  • Plant Physiological Ecology (lecture and lab)

Part‑time appointments are usually for credit‑bearing biology courses taught in person at the lower‑division level. A lecturer will be responsible for a course, sometimes under the direct supervision of an appropriate faculty member. Teaching assignments may include multi‑section coordinated courses; instructors must adhere to all coordinated course policies and general syllabi.

Duties
  • Provide classroom instruction.
  • Prepare course materials and administer student assignments.
  • Administer examinations, grade student work, assess performance, and determine course grades.
  • Hold scheduled office hours.
  • Attend all weekly lab preparatory meetings.
  • Participate in all class field trips, if applicable.
  • Complete all necessary trainings.
  • Attend Lecturer Meetings.
Appointment Details

Appointments are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice.

Required Qualifications
  • Masters or PhD in Anatomy, Physiology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Prior teaching experience at the university level.
  • Ability to interact and work effectively with a culturally diverse student body, including first‑generation college students.
  • Strong evidence of content knowledge in the subjects listed above, spoken and written English communication skills, computer skills, and professional presentation and demeanor.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Significant teaching experience working with diverse populations and fostering an inclusive environment.
  • Current and ongoing full‑time relevant professional experience.

  • Three Letters of Recommendation that highlight teaching experience or potential. Letters must be signed on the referee’s official letterhead and uploaded by the referee. Letters supplied by the applicant will not be accepted.
  • Official transcripts from the institution’s Registrar’s office emailed to klau.
Appointmen­t and Salary

All part‑time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers under the terms of the CSU system Collective Bargaining Agreement. Initial appointments are for one semester only. Classification range: $5,507 – $6,677 per month. Anticipated hiring range: not to exceed $6,221 per month. For a three‑unit assignment, typical starting compensation ranges from $6,608.40 to $7,465.20 per semester.

Academic Calendar

Part‑time faculty are most needed in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term runs from late August to mid‑December; the Spring term from mid‑January to end‑of‑May. Part‑time faculty may also be required during select Summer Session segments.

Performance Evaluation

Regular performance evaluations of part‑time lecturers are conducted by the department in accordance with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These evaluations determine retention for future teaching assignments.

The person holding this position is a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083.

All offers are contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Employment may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information or if information was knowingly withheld or falsified. Re‑hire after a break of 12 or more months requires a new background check.

In accordance with the California State University Out‑of‑State Employment Policy, employment is limited to work within California.
