Salary Range: $1572.67 – $1725.85 per lecture unit; $1572.67 – $1725.85 per lab parity unit; $1258.16 – $1380.60 per lab unit.

Job Description

We’re seeking instructors to teach the following courses, with the potential for continuing appointments based on need.

  • JOUR 210 – Multimedia Journalism – Spring 2026 – in‑person or online. Students learn basic photography, audio, and video production skills and produce multimedia projects following journalism ethics.

Appointment is contingent on class enrollment each semester.

Responsibilities
  • Design syllabi and teach courses with lecture and lab hours.
  • Use Adobe Creative Suite and college library resources; provide optional paid office hours.
  • Maintain health insurance eligibility when teaching at least six units per semester.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s in journalism or communication with a specialization in journalism, OR
  • Bachelor’s in journalism or communication AND a Master’s in English, history, communication, literature, composition, comparative literature, a social science, business, marketing, graphics, or photography, OR
  • Valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area, OR
  • Equivalent qualifications recognized by the district.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Teaching experience at the community college level.
  • Experience in real‑world journalism, radio or broadcasting.
  • Passion for teaching community college students.
  • Experience applying diversity, equity and inclusion practices.
