Qualifications:

* Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking an Engineering Manager in our Fullerton, CA location.

General

Summary:

Directs and coordinates activities of engineering department to design, manufacture, and test components, products, and systems by performing the following duties personally or through direct reports.

Specific Responsibilities:

* Directs department engineering activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques and develop test procedures.

* Resolves complex engineering problems using new techniques, technologies, or concepts.

* Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to plan and prioritize projects.

* Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.

* Advises management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations.

* Provides direction and example for interpretation and application of company policies and procedures to engineering activities.

* Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.

* Represent engineering on cross-functional teams (i.e., operations), and at times lead these teams while driving complex projects across multiple subject areas.

* Provide manufacturing support including weekend and second shift coverage at month end. Working hours may exceed a 40-hour week as required.

Skills/Knowledge:

* Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and communicate technical, business, and regulatory information through written reports, correspondence, and presentations in a manufacturing environment.

* Ability to apply statistical, analytical, and engineering principles to problem-solving, including root cause analysis and Design of Experiments (DOE) when required.

* Ability to utilize Lean and continuous improvement tools to generate meaningful, quantified improvements in cost, efficiency, inventory, cycle time, quality, reliability, delivery, and safety.

* To perform this job successfully, an individual should be computer literate in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

* Ability to read, interpret, and understand blueprints, drawings, and CAD models (specifically Solid Works), including GD&T and aerospace drawing requirements.

* Understanding of manufacturing methods relevant to fastener production, including stamping, heading, machining, grinding, honing, gauging, heat treating, coatings, and secondary operations.

* Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work under time constraints, and manage multiple priorities in a production-driven environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manages the Engineering team and projects in a focus factory. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the area Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
