Principal Lead Systems Engineer

About the Position

Sentinel Lead Systems Engineer – Transmitter Integration (Onsite, Fullerton, CA). Requires U.S. citizenship and an active Secret security clearance as of day one.

• Lead the integration of a new transmitter into an existing radar system.
• Act as the principal arbiter of transmitter requirements and performance, translating customer and internal objectives into actionable guidance.
• Validate and update transmitter requirements, design the transmitter insertion into the radar, and oversee hands‑on integration and verification.
• Coordinate flight test planning, conduct flight tests in Fullerton and other U.S. ranges, analyze performance, functional, environmental, and qualification data.
• Prepare verification procedures and reports, ensuring technical integrity of the system and delivery of a product that meets customer and warfighter needs.
• Collaborate with other radar systems engineers for support, and communicate program status, accomplishments, issues, and assistance needed to Raytheon leadership and the customer.
• Travel as required (approximately 20%).

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in a technical leadership position and in requirements analysis and specification.
• Experience with system integration, test, and verification of hardware and software.
• Prior experience with RF transmitters, generators, power supplies, microwave devices, interfaces, cooling methods, reliability, trade studies, radar engineering, mechanical engineering, and/or electrical engineering.

• Excellent communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Advanced degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or related STEM field.
• Level 4 Certified Lead System Engineer or Lead System Engineer on a development program.
• Experience leading interdisciplinary teams, developing and presenting technical briefings.
• Knowledge of radar design, modeling/simulation, hardware/software integration, and test and verification.
• Experience overseeing and presenting financial metrics (budget, schedule, variance reports, earned value metrics).

• Salary range $118,300 – $224,900 USD.
