Environmental Compliance
We are seeking an Environmental Scientist I to join our headquarters in Fullerton, California. This role focuses on supporting municipal, utility, industrial, and commercial clients with stormwater planning and compliance efforts related to Phase I and II MS4 Permits, CGP, and IGP.
Responsibilities- Interpret complex regulatory permits and formulate compliance strategies.
- Assist clients with regulatory compliance, preparing technical reports, conducting inspections, and ensuring high‑quality deliverables on time and within budget.
- Conduct environmental sampling, testing, and observations (surface water, stormwater, groundwater, wastewater, soils, sediments).
- Perform construction site and facility environmental compliance inspections (QSP, QISP, FOG).
- Manage and analyze data: compile, manipulate, and evaluate.
- Maintain and calibrate monitoring instruments, meters, probes, and automated sampling equipment.
- Develop and implement monitoring and reporting plans and field studies.
- Perform regulatory and water‑quality data analyses.
- BS degree in Environmental Science, Civil or Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data‑management tools (Excel, etc.).
- Experience with ESRI Arc Map/ArcGIS Pro/ArcGIS Online.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze plans, technical manuals, and permits.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to multi‑task, prioritize, and work independently.
- Proactive, self‑motivated, initiative‑driven.
- Physical ability to kneel, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Valid California driver’s license and insurable driving record.
- MS, PhD, or other advanced degree(s) in related fields.
- Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) certification.
- Professional certifications (CPSWQ, CPESC, QSD, QSP, QISP).
- Knowledge of stormwater permitting, water‑quality monitoring, BMPs, and environmental compliance inspections.
- Membership in professional organizations (e.g., ASCE, ACEC, APWA).
- Experience in community outreach and service activities.
- Additional proficiency with Microsoft Office and ArcGIS.
$70,000 - $86,000 USD
