Accounting & Finance Manager

$110,000 – $125,000 depending on experience

Founded in 2009, Endemic Environmental Services is a growing ecological consulting firm dedicated to restoring ecosystems and biodiversity across California. Our work spans habitat restoration, rare species conservation, ecological monitoring, and environmental compliance for infrastructure and renewable energy projects.

We are scaling quickly, and we are building the financial infrastructure to support that growth.

We are hiring an Accounting & Finance Manager to build, stabilize, and scale our accounting and financial operations. This is not a maintenance role. This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who can:

• Step into the day‑to‑day.
• Identify gaps.
• Improve systems that create reliable financial visibility.
• Help leadership make better business decisions.

This role operates within a lean team and requires a high level of ownership and accountability. This role requires both hands‑on involvement and the ability to improve systems and reporting as the company continues to grow.

• Oversee day‑to‑day accounting and general ledger accuracy.
• Manage month‑end and year‑end close.
• Supervise and develop our Accounting Lead.

• Build and deliver clear, reliable financial reporting.
• Create dashboards and reporting that leadership can actually use.
• Improve or rebuild job costing and project profitability tracking.
• Oversee billing, WIP, and revenue recognition processes.
• Partner with operations to ensure financial accuracy across projects.

• Develop cash flow forecasting and working capital visibility.
• Support budgeting efforts across teams (we are building this from the ground up).

• Strengthen accounting processes, controls, and workflows.
• Improve use of Quick Books and support integration with
• Build systems that allow leadership to access financial data quickly and accurately.

• ✔ Comfortable operating in a lean environment
• ✖ Not a fully built‑out finance department
• ✖ Not a “review‑only” Controller role

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting or financial operations experience.
• Strong understanding of financial statements and accounting principles.
• Experience improving or building accounting processes in a growing company.
• Ability to work hands‑on while leading and developing others.

• Experience in consulting, professional services, or project‑based environments.
• Experience with job costing, WIP, and project profitability.
• Experience with certified payroll, prevailing wage, or public works reporting requirements.
• CPA or equivalent experience.
• $110,000 – $125,000 DOE
