Cal State Fullerton seeks a Custodian who will maintain clean, safe, and welcoming living environments for approximately 2,200 students. The role supports the campus mission by providing essential custodial services, helping create a vibrant community of diverse students, faculty, staff, and administrators.

The Custodian works under the direction of the assigned supervisor within the housing community, performing a wide range of custodial duties in and around assigned buildings. The role emphasizes ethical practices, inclusivity, and a commitment to the university’s core values.

• Clean and disinfect drinking fountains, restrooms, sinks, fixtures, toilets, urinals, showers, and bathtubs; replenish all supplies.
• Clean dispensers, mirrors, tile, walls, doors, glass, whiteboards, windows/ills, blinds, and drains.
• Remove trash and debris to external dumpsters; remove decorations and flyers.
• Clean kitchens, stoves, ovens, refrigerators, microwaves, dishwashers, offices, breakrooms, hallways, conference rooms, and stairs.
• Dust, mop tile, and clean all horizontal and vertical surfaces.
• Clean upholstery, furniture, desks, tables, chairs, cabinets, and counters.
• Sweep, scrub, mop floors, scrub tile grout, wax, buff floors, strip tile, and polish floors and concrete.
• Vacuum, spot‑clean, and clean carpets; power wash, remove graffiti, gum, and cobwebs.
• Perform minor maintenance and repairs, including changing lights and cleaning equipment.
• Complete special projects such as event set‑up, furniture moving, laundry, and linens.
• Use a computer to complete work assignments, training, and leave requests.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Basic knowledge of custodial methods, materials, and equipment.
• Ability to read and write at a level appropriate for the duties of the position.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety.
• Ability to operate and care for custodial equipment and supplies applicable to the position.
• Ability to use custodial systems, including work‑order tracking and two‑way radios for communication.
• Ability to perform work involving regular physical activity, observe safety requirements, and adhere to safe work practices.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative work relationships.
• May require the ability to safely move up to 50 lbs and/or possession of a valid California driver’s license.
• Completion of a satisfactory background check (including a criminal records check) is required; conditional offers may be rescinded if disqualifying information is found.

• Previous commercial custodial experience in an educational environment.

• Valid California driver’s license.
