Operations Manager
Our client is a privately held, growth-oriented aerospace and defense company. Our client desires a proactive leader who is results oriented with world-class experience. Reporting to the Group VP/GM, this role will own all operations for a complex, highly engineered component site.
ROLEThe Director of Operations will report directly to the Group Vice President and General Manager and is responsible for the daily direction and leadership of the manufacturing process. He or She will be working closely with the entire plant leadership team to ensure customer demand, quality, and delivery schedules are met. The Director will be the top Operations leader at this site and have a strong commitment to safety and environmental performance and creating teams.
The candidate must be an excellent team builder capable of running the day-to-day entity while ensuring customer confidence. He or she will be committed to creating growth and manufacturing capability, delivering financial performance results, continuously improving products and processes, and developing talent. He or she will contribute to the leadership team in creating strategic vision and a culture of delivering performance via agreed upon KPI’s.
- Behave as a facilitative leader
- Support the development and execution of on-time delivery projects to generate high customer satisfaction
- Leads and facilitates improvement teams, workshop teams, and individual improvement projects aligned with plant or department priorities
- Stay on the leading edge of automation and technical solutions that can be applied within our environment
- Lead various process improvement assignments and projects that yield bottom-line productivity, improved throughput, and better quality
- Provide thought leadership to location teams in areas of process technology, automation, and lean manufacturing
- Leverage communications to recognize best practices, excellent delivery, and exceptional results
- Develop and execute small and broad projects to implement throughput and yield improvements within operations.
- Operate with a high degree of autonomy and professionalism and prioritize workload in accordance with business goals
- Bachelor's degree (B.S. Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, and/or Mechanical Engineering desired but not required) from a four-year college or university or a minimum of 5-10 years related experience and/or training.
- 10 or more years manufacturing experience. A minimum of 5 years in Management in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated data-driven approach to decision making
- Learns and practices Lean tools and techniques (DMAIC, PDCA, root cause analysis, risk assessment/FMEA, kaizen)
- Ability to effectively manage expectations across different functional groups and levels
- Takes ownership, shows accountability and urgency
- Professional, positive, and can-do attitude
- Strategic, critical thinker, analytical and strong business acumen skills
