Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Forming Tech VI, Nutformer- 2nd Shift for our Fullerton, CA location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we're the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Independently operate and make complete set‑ups on National and Formax Nut Formers producing parts to dimensional tolerance as specified by drawing, nut former parts prints and machine layouts.
- Select, mount, and adjust proper punches and dye sets.
- Assemble dyes and punches using hydraulic press.
- Set machine speeds, feeds, and stops.
- Utilize extensive knowledge of metal flow capabilities of various metals to operate equipment and produce parts, avoiding fractures and folds in the finished product.
- Check parts with standard gauges or precision measuring instruments and submit parts for first‑article inspection as required.
- Recognize improper machine functioning and/or tooling problems and take corrective action.
- Direct and assist operators and trainees during various stages of production runs if necessary.
- Parts to be lifted and/or transported may weigh up to 30 lbs.
- Keep work area and equipment clean, safe, and in an orderly fashion daily.
- Perform other tasks of equal or lesser skill as required.
Basic Qualifications:
- Five to seven years' experience in set‑up operation of five to seven dye nut formers or equivalent experience with a fastener manufacturing company.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems of the most advanced level.
- Must possess a working knowledge of ferrous and non‑ferrous metals and their alloys.
- Ability to read and understand manufacturers drawings, catalogs, and other written or verbal instructions.
- Ability to use inspection gages and instruments.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift/move 30 lbs. (may not exceed per EHS policies)
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
