Security Officer I – responsible for ensuring safety and security across Cal State Fullerton properties. Duties include patrolling on foot, bicycle, and vehicle; responding to non-violent incidents; supporting crisis response; providing escorts; assisting social workers; monitoring security cameras; handling non‑emergency calls; participating in emergency preparedness; and performing administrative duties at various campus locations.
Essential Qualifications- High School diploma or equivalent and California Driver’s License.
- Successful completion of a background check and physical examination.
- Knowledge and ability to use public safety equipment and systems.
- Ability to patrol campus grounds, respond to non‑violent incidents, enforce policies, and assist personnel.
- Strong communication and de‑escalation skills.
- Proficient in preparing clear incident reports.
- Experience with security software and camera monitoring.
- First‑aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain them.
- Physical ability to walk, stand, and patrol for extended periods in all weather conditions.
- Willingness to attend P.O.S.T. programs related to public safety support and dispatch activities.

Regular attendance is essential; failure to meet attendance requirements may affect employment. The role may be subject to salary step changes per CSU collective bargaining agreements. The position is a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and requires CSA training for reporting Clery Act crimes.
