Water Lead Worker
Help Keep Fullerton Flowing! The City of Fullerton is in search of a skilled and dependable Water Lead Worker to join our Public Works team.
The ideal candidate has considerable experience in water construction, maintenance, and repair, with expertise in leading and coordinating field work. They are hands-on, actively participating in water system maintenance, repairs, and construction while working closely with crews to keep multiple projects on track. They excel at overseeing preventative maintenance programs, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
They also effectively guide and mentor team members, helping them develop skills and confidence on the job.
What You'll Be Doing
- Coordinating and participating in water system maintenance, repair, and construction
- Leading the system valve and fire hydrant preventative maintenance program, including scheduling, recordkeeping, and field work
- Signing off on work orders after verifying quality, safety, and accuracy
- Working closely with crews to keep multiple projects on track and meet daily goals
- Training and assisting team members in proper maintenance methods and safe work practices
- Tracking completed work, material, and equipment through the City's work management software
What We're Looking For
- Experience: 3+ years of full-time work experience in water/sewer construction, maintenance, and repair, including expertise in leading or coordinating field work
- Education: Coursework, training, and certifications related to water systems, water distribution, and/or utility maintenance
- Skills: Ability to coordinate multiple active projects, have strong teamwork, communication, and organization skills
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of water distribution systems, preventative maintenance practices, and system safety standards
