The Department of Education at Westminster College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Education, beginning August 15, 2026. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative, student-centered team of teacher educators committed to preparing reflective, skilled, and compassionate educators. This position is designed for a generalist in education who can contribute across multiple areas of the teacher preparation program. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate education courses, advising teacher candidates, supervising field and clinical experiences, and contributing to departmental, college, and professional service.

Requirements

Essential Functions:

* Teach a 4-4 undergraduate course load in education, including methods courses, foundations of education, classroom management, assessment, and other courses aligned with departmental needs and the candidate's areas of expertise.

* Supervise, mentor, and provide formative feedback to pre-service teachers during practicum placements and student teaching experiences.

* Advise education majors throughout their program of study, supporting timely degree completion and progress toward teacher certification.

* Model effective, inclusive instructional strategies that promote student engagement, equity, and academic success.

* Demonstrate knowledge of teacher evaluation frameworks, effective feedback practices, and current best practices in teaching and learning.

* Collaborate with faculty, staff, and PK-12 school partners to support high-quality field placements and candidate development.

* Contribute to curriculum development, program assessment, accreditation, and continuous program improvement initiatives.

* Maintain professional currency through scholarly activity, professional development, and participation in regional, state, or national educational conferences.

* Serve on departmental and college committees and contribute to the academic life of the institution.

Job Requirements:

Education:

Earned doctorate in Education or a closely related field required (ABD candidates will be considered if degree completion is expected by the start date or within a clearly defined timeframe).

Experience:

* Successful PK-12 teaching experience at the elementary and/or secondary level preferred.

* Experience mentoring, supervising, or evaluating teacher candidates preferred.

* Experience in teacher preparation, instructional coaching, or clinical supervision desirable.

Skills and Knowledge:

* Strong understanding of current educational research, pedagogical practices, and professional standards in teacher education.

* Demonstrated commitment to inclusive, student-centered teaching and mentoring.

* Strong written and oral communication skills.

* Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and school partners.

* Effective organization and time-management skills.

* Active engagement in professional or educational organizations preferred.
