Job Type: This is a full time, exempt position.

William Woods University is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position to teach communication to undergraduate students. The contracted teaching load is 12 hours per semester, with the opportunity to teach additional courses as overload.

Full-time faculty are expected to participate in faculty and campus committees, attend faculty assembly and school meetings, and conduct program and class assessments in accordance with standards developed by the University and outside accrediting entities. Faculty are also expected to develop educational programs to be presented to the campus at large as part of the University LEAD program and to attend such programs sponsored by other faculty in the University.

We are hiring for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Communication - Rank and salary are commensurate with qualification and experience. $50,000 - $58,000

WWU provides employees and their dependents with an opportunity to enroll in undergraduate, masters or doctoral coursework for credit at the university at a free or reduced cost. Employees interested in undergraduate degrees are eligible upon completion of three months of service. Masters or doctoral (including EDS) level degrees begins upon completion of six months of service.

• Teach lower and upper-division undergraduate communication courses including but not limited to: sports communication, speech, communication theory, argument and debate, and media ethics.
• Assist students with academic advising.
• Prepare course syllabi for assigned courses that meet the needs of students and university requirements.
• Participate in the development of assessments and evaluation of courses and the program for continuing improvement.
• Maintain professional development according to personal and professional need.
• Assist in recruitment efforts for the program by participating in university recruitment events and communicating with interested students.
• Responsible for maintaining relationships with alumni of the program. Collaborate in curriculum design and materials development for the Communication program.

Other duties as assigned may include, but are not limited to:

• Other duties assigned by the Dean of the School of Art, Design, and Media.
• Duties are subject to change based on the applicant's skills and department needs.

• Degree requirements preferred Ph.D. (or Terminal Degree) or M.A. in a related field
• Ability to perform teaching, administrative, and clerical duties independently to fulfill goals and objectives of the program within the overall mission of the department, the division, and the University.
• Teaching experience at a higher educational institution is preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to professional development, strong work ethic, and a commitment to working well with others.
• Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with integrating instructional technology into classroom experiences.

• Ability to climb several flights of stairs several times each day.
• Ability to lift, push or pull up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods.
• Ability to speak and read English fluently.
• Ability to hear.
• Ability to travel.
• Must possess a valid Missouri driver’s license and adhere to the WWU vehicle policy.

This is a full-time, 9-month position beginning January 2027. This position will be open until filled.
