RISE Program After school Teacher

The RISE program (Responsive Intervention and Student Enrichment) is Fulton Public Schools' intentional after-school learning program that extends student support beyond the regular school day. Serving targeted elementary and middle school students, RISE provides a safe, structured environment where students participate in small-group academic intervention and enrichment activities. Academic support is led by RISE teachers and aligned to school-day instruction, with an emphasis on reading, math, and science, while enrichment opportunities may include STEM, coding, the arts, career exploration, mentoring, and community partner activities.

Through partnerships with community organizations, RISE also connects students and families to tutoring, mentoring, resources, and opportunities that support student success and postsecondary readiness.

Position Type:
Hourly (not to exceed 3 hours per day, including prep and program time)

Job Goal

After school teachers provide targeted academic instruction and support student learning through small-group intervention aligned to program goals. Teachers use student data to guide instruction and support academic growth in reading/language arts and mathematics. This job reports to the RISE Site Coordinator and RISE Program Director.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Deliver targeted small-group instruction in reading/language arts and/or mathematics and/or enrichment programming.
  • Use student data (e.g., i-Ready, Mastery Connect, student interest) to inform instruction.
  • Support student engagement and academic progress.
  • Maintain a structured and supportive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with the Site Coordinator and program staff.
  • Participate in required training and professional development.
  • Assist with supervision during transitions and program activities.

Qualifications

  • Valid Missouri teaching certification preferred or adequate youth development/child care experience, along with relevant experience required.
  • Experience in classroom instruction preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations required.
  • Strong classroom management and instructional skills required.
