Job Description & How to Apply Below
Description
Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a highly motivated Post‑Doctoral Research Fellow to lead the development of innovative and effective patient recruitment strategies for companion animal field trials. This fellowship focuses on addressing a critical industry challenge: timely enrollment of eligible patients—particularly for therapeutic field trials where naturally occurring disease and strict enrollment criteria create significant recruitment barriers.
Duties & Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategies to recruit eligible patients into field trials, with emphasis on therapeutic trials requiring naturally occurring disease.
- Investigate causes of slow recruitment to identify barriers within current processes and propose data‑driven solutions.
- Analyze successful recruitment cases to understand and replicate effective approaches.
- Scout external opportunities and novel pathways to identify eligible patients in real time.
- Build and strengthen partnerships with external organizations, clinics, and networks to enhance trial awareness and patient flow.
- Create tools and methods to help clinics identify eligible patients within their existing clientele.
- Study owner decision‑making behavior, identifying why pet owners choose to participate—or not—and recommend strategies to improve trial appeal and engagement.
- Required:
- PhD or DVM/PhD in a relevant field (e.g., Animal Health, Veterinary Science, Clinical Research, Biomedical Science, Epidemiology, or related disciplines).
- Experience with companion animal field trials or clinical veterinary research.
- Demonstrated ability to generate novel ideas, pursue leads, and solve problems creatively.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external partners.
- Preferred:
- Background in marketing, communication, or outreach strategies, especially in scientific or veterinary settings.
- Experience working with veterinary clinics or clinical trial operations.
- Interest in translational research and real‑world clinical study implementation.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
- Must be willing to take a drug test and post‑offer physical (if required).
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Drive meaningful advances in clinical trial methodology.
- Shape the future of field trial recruitment strategies across the organization.
- Engage with cross‑functional teams dedicated to improving animal health research.
- Build a unique and impactful professional profile at the intersection of science, clinical operations, and innovation.
