The Security Supervisor is a working supervisor responsible for providing first‑line supervision of Security Officers while actively participating in daily campus security operations. Supervisory responsibilities include reviewing incident reports and activity logs, verifying completion of patrols, checkpoints, and assigned duties, monitoring officer performance, and ensuring appropriate staffing coverage.
Security operations are conducted 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The position may require days, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and special events based upon operational and staffing needs. This position is expected to regularly work patrol shifts in place of Security Officers as part of the normal staffing schedule. The Security Supervisor will also serve as the first line fill‑in for open shifts caused by illness, vacation, vacancies, call‑offs, or other staffing shortages.
Maintaining security coverage is a primary responsibility of this position and will require flexibility in scheduled days and hours.

- Serves as the first‑line supervisor for Security Officers and provides routine direction, guidance, and support.
- Regularly works scheduled Security Officer patrol shifts as part of the department’s normal staffing and coverage plan.
- Serves as the primary staffing resource for open Security Officer shifts caused by illness, vacation, vacancies, call‑offs, or other staffing shortages.
- Adjusts scheduled days and working hours when necessary to maintain required campus security coverage.
- Monitors staffing schedules, leave, and anticipated vacancies and works with Security Department leadership to address coverage needs.
- Reviews incident reports, daily activity logs, call logs, and other documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with department requirements.
- Monitors and verifies completion of required patrols, scan points, checkpoints, building checks, unlocks, lockups, and other assigned duties.
- Identifies missed assignments, incomplete documentation, and performance concerns and addresses routine issues directly with officers.
- Communicates significant or repeated performance concerns to the Assistant Director or Director.
- Provides routine coaching, training, and on‑the‑job guidance to Security Officers and assists with training new officers.
- Provides direction and assistance to officers during incidents and ensures appropriate notifications are made.
- Ensures officers follow College policies, Security Department procedures, post orders, emergency procedures, and supervisory directions.
- While working patrol coverage, performs the full duties of a Security Officer, including patrols, calls for service, emergency response, access control, building checks, unlocks and lockups, incident reporting, and event security.
