About the Opportunity:
Our client is a global industrial manufacturer with multiple production facilities across North America and internationally. The business supplies high-performance products to a broad range of industrial markets and is recognised for its commitment to operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. They are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead the site's quality function and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.
The Role:
The Quality Manager will be responsible for leading all aspects of the plant's quality function, ensuring products consistently meet customer requirements, industry standards, and internal quality objectives. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on maintaining compliance, reducing quality issues, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and developing a strong quality culture throughout the site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the site's Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure ongoing compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and ISO 17025 standards.
- Manage all internal quality audits and coordinate corrective and preventive actions.
- Investigate customer quality concerns and lead root cause analysis and resolution activities.
- Act as the primary quality contact for customer-related issues.
- Supervise and develop quality inspectors and laboratory personnel.
- Maintain laboratory systems and testing processes in accordance with ISO 17025 requirements.
- Develop quality metrics, analyse data, and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Establish and maintain quality standards, inspection procedures, and testing protocols.
- Partner closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to improve product quality and manufacturing performance.
- Work with suppliers to ensure purchased materials meet quality expectations.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Develop and deliver quality-related training across the site.
- Support additional projects and initiatives as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of quality leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and ISO 17025.
- Internal Auditor qualification for IATF 16949 and/or ISO 9001.
- Six Sigma Belt with practical, site-wide implementation experience.
- Strong understanding of quality systems, statistical analysis, and problem-solving methodologies.
- Metrology experience is advantageous.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong analytical ability with a data-driven approach to decision making.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and quality reporting tools.
- Experience with ERP systems such as BPCS is beneficial.
