- Performs operational analysis and mission effectiveness analysis.
- Designs and plans complex network systems.
- Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
- Provides specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
- Shares technical expertise with colleagues in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switchers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
- Evaluates and reports on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
- Performs configuration management and release engineering tasks to ensure new software product operating parameters are documented, comply with standard hardware configurations, and are logistically sustainable.
- Coordinates with the cyber security team to develop and implement security baselines and Group Policy Object (GPO) settings.
- Acts on vulnerability reports to perform timely remediation, applying security patches, configuration adjustments, and other corrective measures in coordination with the cyber security team.
- Work is performed without appreciable direction and exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment.
- Guides the successful completion of major projects where erroneous decisions typically result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives.
- Acts as the organization’s prime technical contact for projects with significant technical matters that need to be communicated to senior external personnel.
- High school diploma, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree with extensive practical and relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science (preferred)
- Previous experience with Liquid Waste facilities, systems, and requirements (preferred)
- Familiarity or previous experience maintaining secured IC S systems under DOE/NNSA requirements (preferred)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
