Overview
The Senior Fire System Specialist is responsible for inspecting, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting fire alarm and life safety systems to ensure code compliance, system reliability, and customer satisfaction. This role partners closely with customers, sales, and internal teams to deliver high-quality service, support system programming and integration, and mentor team members while maintaining accurate documentation and reporting.
Responsibilities- Conduct the inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire suppression systems, including but not limited to Fire Alarm and Fire Extinguisher systems.
- Ensure the entire scope of the inspection is executed appropriately.
- Engage and communicate with the customer on-site, ensuring customer satisfaction and addressing all questions.
- Provide and upload accurate inspection reports to CLSS within 24 hours of an inspection completion.
- Provide and upload pictures when a system or device fails inspection or requires service.
- Complete a weekly closeout email detailing inspections performed and items needing immediate attention.
- Assist in preparing as-built drawings and other closeout documents as necessary.
- Provide information and support to the inside sales position when applicable.
- Complete time sheets, service work orders, expense reports, and other required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate leadership and support training of team members.
- Assist the Sales team during estimating and potential system demonstrations when applicable.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of experience in fire alarm installation, testing, inspecting, and service.
- An understanding of NFPA 72 and other related fire and life safety codes is beneficial.
- Advanced ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- 5+ years of experience in system startup and programming, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
- 5+ years of experience in panel installation and wiring, ensuring proper setup and system reliability.
- NICET or other certifications in the Fire and Life Safety industry.
- Proficiency with electronic equipment (volt meters, amp meters, etc.).
- Ability to troubleshoot basic electric and electronic circuitry.
- Understanding of computer operating systems, including MS Office Suite.
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to empathetically understand issues and work through them to achieve outcomes and customer and employee satisfaction.
- Ability to pass background checks as required by customers.
- Willingness and ability to travel within the state, including overnight stays.
- Availability to work nights and some weekends as required.
- Ability to pass government clearances.
- 7+ years of experience with testing and inspecting Fire Alarm and Fire Sprinkler Systems, including Kitchen Hoods, Backflows, Clean Agent Systems, Pre-Action Systems, Fire Pumps, and Fire Hydrants.
- NICET level III or other certifications in Fire and Life Safety.
- Advanced understanding of NFPA 72 and related codes.
- Experience with Building Reports software.
- Experience with Notifier fire alarm panels.
- Willingness and ability to participate in an on-call rotation if qualified.

- Stand, climb, walk, sit, push, pull, squat, crawl, and stoop; use hands to finger, handle, feel, and type; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
- Specific vision abilities including close, distance, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Use of power tools may be required.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and work at heights up to 6 feet (1.8 m).
Work environment includes outdoor weather conditions, job sites, potential travel to locations, typical office settings, and occasional exposure to construction equipment. Noise level is usually moderate. Confined space entry may be required. High work may be required.
