Upward Bound Outreach Advisor

This Is a Grant Funded At-Will Position For Which The Attainment of Non-Probationary Status (Tenure) is not available.
Continued Employment Contingent Upon Funding.

This position will routinely conduct recruitment activities and community awareness programs. Motivate participants to pursue career and college paths. Provide them with guided information regarding academic choices, possible fields of interest, and college/university information. Conduct series of seminars and workshops that will be enriching for the participants and parents. Assist the Upward Bound Director in overall support of the program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Provide fundamental support to high school students in their preparation for college entrance.

* Serve high school students at risk for academic failure, low-income, first generation, and/or disabled students and/or low-income families.

* Provide opportunities for participants to succeed in pre-college performance and ultimately in higher education.

* Increase the rates at which participants enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education.

* Assist the Director in the assessment of participants.

* Assist the Director in the coordination of the orientation of students and parents for the fall and summer sessions.

* Maintain appropriate program and participant records relative to the position, including student data, such as progress reports, transcripts, scholarship information, and contacts.

* Coordinate the Upward Bound Work Study Program.

* Assist with the coordination and implementation of the Summer Bridget Program including residential components.

* Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System and the College.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

* Bachelor's degree from an approved U.S. Department of Education accredited institution, preferably in education, social work, counseling or related field required, Master's degree preferred

* One or more years of professional experience working with low-income, first generation, and/or disabled students and/or low-income families required

* Secondary school or post-secondary experience with at least one year of teaching or advising experience preferred

* Ability to travel to and from target schools and surrounding area required

PROJECTED STARTING DATE:

March 2026

SALARY:
Salary Schedule C3, 08 $ 37,700 - $60,300. Salary will be based on VERIFIED education and years of VERIFIED related experience that is stated on the initial job application only.
