Student Support Services Tutorial Coordinator
This is a grant funded at-will position for which the attainment of non-probationary status (tenure) is not available. Continued employment contingent upon funding.
The Student Support Services (SSS) Tutorial Coordinator's role is to coordinate and implement all instructional components of the SSS federal grant program under the direction of the TRIO Student Support Services program director and assistant director. This position is responsible for assisting with the management, implementation, and evaluation of the SSS project, focusing on increasing retention and graduation rates. The SSS Tutorial Coordinator is responsible for hiring, training, and supervising part-time tutors.
Essential duties and responsibilities include managing all tutoring/supplemental instruction activities for SSS participants, identifying, recruiting, training, supervising, and evaluating peer and professional tutors, maintaining rosters, reports, and other documentation related to the tutorial program, assigned workshops, and supplemental instruction activities, coordinating with the Human Resources and Payroll Department and SSS Office Manager to ensure proper onboarding and payment for tutors, coordinating with tutors on a regular basis concerning student progress, supervising scheduling of tutorial sessions, reviewing academic progress, and providing academic advisement, assisting with identification, assessment, and selection of eligible project participants and maintaining tutorial files, responsible for the accumulation of data and reports for the evaluation of tutoring and GPA of participants, coordinating the mentoring/coaching program, advising SSS students pursuing a technical degree and developing and planning for graduation, maintaining the security and accuracy of student and project data, compiling reports and providing information as requested by the Project Director, developing and maintaining an effective rapport with students, other employees, and the public, serving on college committees and performing other duties as assigned, complying with all policies of the Alabama Community College System and the College.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an approved U.S. Department of Education-accredited institution required. Minimum two (2) years' experience in teaching/tutoring students is preferred. Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities include sensitivity to the needs of youth, minorities, the disabled, and other persons the project may serve, excellent interpersonal communication and organization skills, knowledge of academic study skills, personal needs assessment, and student support strategies, familiarity with federal programs, ability to travel to other campus locations when necessary, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff, knowledge of budget and hiring procedures, forms, and the ability to organize payroll documentation and employee files, ability to organize and lead tutorial training.
Projected starting date:
August 2026. Salary:
This position is on Gadsden State's local Salary Schedule C3, 08 ($37,700 - $53,800*). The maximum salary shall be limited to the maximum allowed under the grant for this position which is $53,800 FY26. Salary will be based on verified education and years of verified full-time related experience that is stated on the initial job application only. All full-time directly related experience must be on the application/resume for consideration.

Salary calculation:
For all positions on all Salary Schedules, the salary amount for the selected applicant is determined by step placement on the applicable schedule. Step placement is dependent upon the following: (a) all full-time work experience in public education in Alabama and (b) all other full-time work experience outside of public education in Alabama that, in the sole judgment of the College, directly relates to the requirements of the position.
