Position: Work Based Learning and Workplace Skills Specialist

Serves as a liaison between the College, high schools, and community organizations to support recruitment, enrollment, student success, and workforce development initiatives. Coordinates schedules, prepares official documents and reports, maintains records and spreadsheets, and supports administrative meetings. Ensures efficient daily operations, effective communication, compliance with institutional policies, and the delivery of high‑quality service to students, employees, and the public while contributing to the College’s enrollment, retention, and organizational effectiveness goals.

ESSENTIAL

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Compiles flyers, handouts and tour bags for school visits, campus visits, and other technical events.
  • Assists with all campus tours.
  • Performs setup and breakdown activities for all technical events.
  • Helps with special projects including Candy with Cardinals, the Christmas Parade, summer camps, STEM camps, and other seasonal events.
  • Tracks inventory and assists with quotes for promotional items.
  • Serves as the front‑desk point of contact for the East Broad Administration Building, greeting students and visitors, directing individuals to appropriate offices and facilities, and responding to general inquiries.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Complies with all policies of the Alabama Community College System and the College.
WORK-BASED LEARNING DUTIES
  • Maintains FAME/COMET spreadsheets for qualification including entering new applicant information, updating missing information, and creating a student file per applicant.
  • Assists in the qualification process for FAME and COMET including ensuring all parts of the application are complete and that test scores place them into appropriate courses per program.
  • Organizes, scans, uploads, and files all FAME/COMET/Pathways/Co‑op printed paperwork (application, qualifying paperwork, grade reports, employer evaluations).
  • Manages the FAME/COMET communications app, including sending notifications about upcoming events for prospective students, reminders for applications, and notices about missing information on applications.
  • Prepares materials for FAME/COMET orientations including handouts, MCE workbooks, portfolios, industry‑recognized credentials, pocket cards.
  • Manages the distribution of all MCE Workbooks, portfolios, and industry‑recognized credential certificates for FAME cohorts.
  • Assists in the planning and coordination of FAME and COMET orientations, industry tours, career coach’s day, mock interviews, signing days, etc.
WKO DUTIES
  • Prepares WKO
    101 workbooks as well as additional seasonal promotional materials (scholarship notices, event flyers, etc.).
  • Organizes and files all paperwork for WKO
    101.
  • Manages the CRNs for all WKO
    101 sections (traditional and dual enrollment) from semester to semester, including creating CRNs, deleting CRNs, modifying CRN information (times, days, instructors, locations, campus assignments, etc.).
  • Maintains and updates the WKO
    101 dual enrollment tracking spreadsheet, recording student information and documenting each step of the registration process.
  • Registers students for dual enrollment WKO
    101 sections.
  • Follows up with the appropriate outlet to address and resolve student issues related to WKO
    101, including applications, residency, identification, GPA discrepancies, missing signatures, inaccurate information, and other form‑related concerns.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Two (2) years of postsecondary education with a minimum of 15 semester hours in related coursework from an approved U.S. Department of Education accredited institution (required).
  • Three (3) years of experience in a related position (required).
  • Knowledge of technical education and/or corporate training (preferred).
  • Experience with non‑credit programs (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Workforce Development programs and procedures (preferred).
  • Involvement in school or community activities (preferred).
