Overview

We are seeking a Progressive Care Registered Nurse or PCU RN, internally referred to as our Progressive Care Nurse. In the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), the PCU RN or Step-Down RN will provide specialized care to patients with acute and/or chronic medical conditions who require close monitoring, intervention, and support to optimize their outcomes and facilitate their transition to lower levels of care.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessments of patients' conditions, including vital signs, cardiac rhythms, neurological status, respiratory status, and overall clinical stability, and monitor changes in patient conditions and respond promptly to any deterioration.
  • Utilize telemetry and other monitoring devices to continuously monitor patients' cardiac rhythms, oxygen saturation levels, blood pressure, and other parameters, and recognize and interpret abnormalities in monitoring data.
  • Administer medications as directed by physicians, encompassing intravenous medications, antibiotics, pain management medications, and cardiac medications, while vigilantly monitoring patients for any adverse reactions or side effects.
  • Perform nursing interventions and treatments as ordered by physicians, such as wound care, catheter care, suctioning, and administration of oxygen therapy, which may include assisting with procedures.
  • Adhere to evidence-based practice guidelines, hospital policies, and protocols related to patient care, infection control, and safety.
Qualifications
  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus
  • Current ACLS certificate within 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Previous Acute Care hospital experience.
  • Ventilator management experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
