A Geriatric Psychiatric Registered Nurse (Psychiatric-Mental Health RN) provides care and support to individuals with mental health disorders and substance use disorders. They work with patients, families, groups, and communities to assess mental health needs, develop individualized plans of care, and promote well-being.

Shift: Nights (7:00 pm–7:00 am) with $4–$8 differential in pay.

• Gauge patients’ psychiatric state, collaborate with multidisciplinary team to support care plan
• Strong de-escalation skills; maintain patient safety during restraints, holds, or seclusion events, conducts education
• Help prepare patients and families for safe discharge and therapeutic continuum of care
• Conduct thorough initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of physical, emotional, and mental health
• Monitor vital signs, intake/output, and other clinical indicators to detect changes in patient conditions
• Recognize and act on warning signs of deterioration, such as changes in heart rate, respiratory rate, or mental status
• Safely administer prescribed medications (oral, IV, subcutaneous, intramuscular) and monitor for adverse effects or allergic reactions
• Act as liaison between patients, families, and healthcare team to ensure needs are met
• Provide patient education on condition, treatment options, and lifestyle adjustments to support recovery and prevent readmission
• Communicate effectively with doctors, specialists, physical therapists, and social workers to develop and adjust care plans
• Epic computer charting

Deal-breaking requirements:

• Must have current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards.
• Working knowledge of interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units.
• Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care.
