Responsibilities
Med Surg RNs provide bedside care for diverse patients, conducting individualized assessments to develop personalized care plans. They prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and treatments. Their key duties include:
- Preparing, administering, and documenting prescribed medications
- Monitoring patients for adverse symptoms and initiating alternative actions when necessary
- Changing dressings, inserting catheters, and starting IVs as needed
- Registered Nurse licensure
- Strong assessment and clinical skills
- Ability to respond promptly to patient needs and adverse symptoms
- Proficiency in medication administration and invasive procedures
