The Accounting Clerk supports the accounting department by performing day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable/receivable data. This role also assists with reconciliations, filing, and general clerical support for the retail corporation's finance team.
ResponsibilitiesProcess accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and on time.
Reconcile bank statements, vendor statements, and store-level cash deposits.
Prepare and enter invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
Maintain organized filing systems (physical and digital) for financial records.
Retrieve, sort, and file boxes of receipts, invoices, and financial documents.
Respond to vendor and internal inquiries regarding billing and payments.
Support internal and external audits by pulling and organizing documentation.
Assist with petty cash management and store cash reconciliation.
Assist at switchboard area when needed.
Perform other clerical/administrative duties as assigned.
QualificationsProficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, SAP, Oracle).
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Have adequate vision, speech, hearing, and physical ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry at least 20 lbs.
Required Experience1-2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience (retail environment a plus).
Required EducationAssociate's degree in Accounting/Finance preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent.
