JOB TITLE: SCHOOL MTSS COACH

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

The School MTSS Coach, reporting to the building principal, provides leadership, coaching, and direct support to educators in the implementation of a comprehensive Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS). The coach coordinates the school's MTSS plan; collaborates with administrators, teachers, and support staff; supports data-based problem solving and intervention planning; models and co-teaches lessons; provides actionable feedback; and develops professional learning to strengthen instructional practices and improve student outcomes.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Supports, coordinates, and monitors implementation of the school's Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) plan.
• Collaborates regularly with school administration and instructional staff to identify and address areas of greatest need.
• Facilitates a school wide shift from isolated RtI practices toward an integrated MTSS framework that supports academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
• Coordinates with administration to identify and procure appropriate intervention resources and materials.
• Develops, maintains, and supports documentation for student interventions, goals, progress monitoring, and MTSS decision making.
• Assists teachers and teams in analyzing screening, diagnostic, formative, progress-monitoring, and other student data to establish benchmarks, set measurable goals, identify needs, and plan targeted interventions.
• Monitors the consistency, quality, and effectiveness of goals and interventions within student MTSS/RtI plans and supports teams in making data-based adjustments.
• Participates in and observes instructional planning and classroom instruction, providing supportive, specific, and actionable feedback and recommendations.
• Models lessons, co-teaches, and provides job-embedded coaching to strengthen evidence-based instructional and intervention practices.
• Develops concrete action steps at the school, grade, content-area, classroom, small-group, or individual-student level in response to identified needs.
• Assists administration in developing and implementing remediation or improvement plans, as necessary.
• Develops and conducts professional development for teachers and staff regarding MTSS, instructional strategies, intervention practices, data use, progress monitoring, and other identified instructional needs.
• Participates in professional development, training, conferences, and workshops to maintain and improve knowledge of MTSS, content, instructional strategies, coaching practices, data analysis, and adult learning theory.
• Maintains detailed and accurate records related to all aspects of the position, including coaching logs documenting dates, times, locations, focus areas, and follow-up actions.
• Prepares reports, correspondence, data summaries, program documentation, and other records as required.
• Attends and participates in school, District, community, and other meetings and serves on committees or professional organizations as appropriate.
• Communicates and collaborates professionally with the principal, District administrators and staff, teachers, support personnel, State Department of Education personnel, parents, committees, and community stakeholders.
• Uses computers, data systems, office technology, instructional resources, and other equipment necessary to perform assigned responsibilities.
• Performs related duties and routine administrative/office tasks as required.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Requires a Master's degree in education, educational research and measurement, curriculum and instruction, educational leadership, or a related field, supplemented by two to three years of relevant experience in education, assessment, data analysis, instructional coaching, intervention, or a related area; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must possess a valid state driver's license.
