Engineer- Controls II ; D Crew​/PM Shift

Overview

Entry level corporate controls position supporting manufacturing operations, equipment implementation/startup, electrical controls systems/designs, PLC/HMI programming, data collection and optimization of manufacturing process control systems. This position directly supports a manufacturing site and is assigned to AM shift 6:00 AM – 6:10 PM, with a rotating 36/48-hour work week that includes working every other Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

• Supports manufacturing facilities, including remote support of worldwide manufacturing facilities.
• Designs, programs, and coordinates small-scale control systems and projects.
• Assists with coordination of new equipment installation and implementation.
• Maintains and updates manufacturing process tool electrical drawings, ensuring the tracking of equipment changes is documented and drawings are kept current.
• Troubleshoots and problem-solves equipment controls related issues.
• Interfaces with multiple departments within the organization to ensure corporate controls policies/standards are understood and adhered to.
• Assists senior engineers on large projects.
• Maintains effective communications levels and fosters team building.
• Ensures adherence to all safety procedures and good housekeeping standards.

• Associates/Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field; or equivalent years of work experience.
• Minimum 1 – 5 years of manufacturing equipment controls engineering experience.

• Understands controls engineering techniques and practices for global facilities (North America, Asia, Europe).
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical/electronic control systems.
• Understands global manufacturing processes and safety requirements.
• Proficient use of AutoCAD for electrical schematics and panel layouts.
• Programming of Rockwell Automation Logix PLCs (ladder and function block).
• Programming Rockwell Automation HMI (Panel View, Factory Talk View ME/SE).
• Designing, programming, and commissioning at least two control networks (Control Net, Device Net, Profibus and/or Ethernet).
• Understanding of robotic systems including programming, safety requirements, and design/implementation practices.
• Computer hardware/applications and Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Basic understanding of corporate Ethernet architectures and server architecture.
• Strong oral and written communication and problem-solving skills.

• Reporting Relationships:
  This position will not have direct reports.
• Travel: 5% – 10%; occasional travel to other First Solar locations for training during plant start-up.
• Estimated Salary Range: $68,800 – $98,000 annually.
