Material Handler ; 1st Shift

Engage in packaging, loading, unloading, storing, and transporting materials and products by performing the described duties. Responsible for on-time delivery and quality as it pertains to shipping functions. Ensures the correct SAP transactions are made for receipts and items issues in/out of inventory.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 6+ months of sit‑down forklift experience, which has been the primary function within the past 4 years.
• Experience with computer use.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Previous experience with shipping/receiving documents.
• Previous experience with handheld scanners is preferred.
• Knowledge of EH&S policies and C‑TPAT regulations.

• Participate in SWATs.
• Perform all shipping/receiving requirements, including product packaging and shipping as directed and in a safe manner.
• Operate material handling equipment; load and unload vehicles as well as internal movement of material.
• Maintain daily shipping/receiving activity log.
• Transfer finished goods from manufacturing to offsite warehouse, ensuring the quality and integrity of the pallet remains intact.
• Perform daily/weekly cycle inventory counts and assist in investigating any inventory variances.
• Perform daily equipment inspections including forklifts, bolts, battery, and any equipment moved by forklift.
• Perform SAP transactions for receipts and items issues in/out.
• Work with supporting departments on investigating any inventory/receipt discrepancies.
• Maintain effective communication levels and foster team building in and outside the department.
• Practice good housekeeping and follow all safety procedures.
• Act as a courier when needed.
• Use hand tools such as nail guns, air hose, etc.
• Support 5S program.
• Perform other assignments as required, including assisting in production and other departments when necessary.

• This position reports to the Supervisor, Traffic/Material Handling.

• If hired during plant start‑up, you will be expected to travel to other First Solar locations for training.

• $18.00 - $21.63 per hour

• Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day.
• Will climb stairs on an occasional basis.
• Will lift up to 58 pounds on an occasional basis.
• Will lift up to 37 pounds on a frequent basis.
• Will push or pull up to 27 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
• Will push or pull up to 10 pounds of force on a frequent basis.
• Will use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects repetitively on a frequent basis.
• 20/40 vision in each eye (with or without correction) and ability to distinguish between red, yellow and green is required.
• May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
• May stoop, kneel, or bend on an occasional basis.
• Must comply with all safety standards and procedures.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment including steel‑toed shoes, cut‑resistant gloves, jackets, aprons, arm guards, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
• All associates working on the production floor may be required to wear a respirator at any given time; thus, the ability to wear a respirator is a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair).
• Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) Operation (i.e., forklifts, carts or vehicles with a motor, etc.)
• Any position with an essential function of PIV operation requires 20/40 vision in each eye separately and both eyes (with or without correction), ability to distinguish between red, yellow, and green and peripheral vision >70 degrees.
