Position SummaryUnder direct supervision, the Maintenance Mechanic 1 is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving mechanical equipment/systems to ensure optimal plant performance. This role includes preventive maintenance, system upgrades, and support for capital and extraordinary maintenance projects. The Technician will work collaboratively across departments, demonstrating strong technical skills, problem-solving ability, and adherence to safety and compliance standards.
Primary Responsibilities- Maintain and troubleshoot production equipment, including mechanical & power transfer systems (hydraulic, pneumatic, drive systems, bushings/bearings/idler systems, gearboxes, pumps, valves, fasteners, seals, gaskets), steam, plumbing & piping.
- Understanding of measurements for all related topics
- Perform preventive maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Review and update engineering drawings, schematics, and P&.
- Maintain accurate documentation for electrical and mechanical systems.
- Coach operators on Process Control including: adjustments, changeovers, and technical skills.
- Participate in problem-solving for line improvements, safety, and quality issues.
- Support TPM/Lean initiatives and optimize maintenance plans.
- Identify and resolve safety issues proactively.
- Assist in project scopes, design reviews, and system start-ups.
- Additional duties as assigned by leadership.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Two-year technical degree in industrial maintenance, electromechanical maintenance, or related field preferred.
- 1-2 years of previous work experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Basic mechanical skills (hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical drive systems).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs.
- Basic welding and fabrication skills (MIG, TIG, Stick) preferred.
- Continuous improvement mindset and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Good communication skills and continuous improvement mindset.
- Must have basic proficiency of English language to comply with verbal and written directions, signs, policies and procedures.
- Follow all company, plant, and regulatory safety and environmental compliance, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safety, Health & Environment (SHE), and International Standardization Organization (ISO).
- Must inspect and wear PPE as required.
- Adhere to Energy Isolation Procedure (LOTO - Lock out Tag Out) procedures and never place body parts in moving machinery.
- Report unsafe conditions, spills, and incidents immediately.
- Dispose of waste properly, recycle when possible, and follow HAZCOM procedures.
- Understand and apply allergen control, sanitation, thermal processing, metal detection, and foreign material prevention guidelines.
