Position Summary

The Clinical Leader is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care while providing leadership for the center's Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program and Infection Prevention program. This role serves as a clinical resource for staff and physicians, promotes regulatory compliance, patient safety, infection prevention, and continuous quality improvement while maintaining direct patient care responsibilities throughout the perioperative continuum.

  • Deliver professional nursing care in accordance with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act and ANA Standards of Practice.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of care.
  • Prepare, monitor, recover, and discharge patients undergoing outpatient surgical and endovascular procedures.
  • Scrub during procedures when appropriately trained.
  • Administer medications and monitor patients throughout moderate sedation and recovery.
  • Assess patients for complications and initiate appropriate interventions.
  • Provide patient and family education before and after procedures.
  • Complete pre‑admission assessments and verify patient readiness for surgery.
  • Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain efficient patient flow throughout the surgical experience.
  • Ensure compliance with medication management requirements, including Ohio Board of Pharmacy and DEA regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership and supervisory staff
Quality Assessment & Performance Improvement (QAPI)
  • Coordinate and oversee the center's Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement Program.
  • Collect, analyze, and report quality data related to patient outcomes, safety, clinical performance, and operational processes.
  • Conduct chart audits, incident reviews, patient satisfaction analysis, and quality monitoring activities.
  • Identify trends and opportunities for improvement using quality improvement methodologies such as PDSA, Lean, or Six Sigma.
  • Lead and participate in Performance Improvement Projects.
  • Monitor effectiveness of corrective actions and improvement initiatives.
  • Present quality findings and recommendations to leadership and the QAPI Committee.
  • Educate staff regarding quality initiatives, regulatory requirements, and performance improvement activities.
  • Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement and patient safety.
Infection Prevention
  • Coordinate the center's Infection Prevention and Control Program.
  • Conduct ongoing infection surveillance, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Monitor compliance with hand hygiene, standard precautions, transmission‑based precautions, and exposure control practices.
  • Investigate potential healthcare‑associated infections and report communicable diseases or sentinel events to appropriate agencies when required.
  • Review infection prevention policies annually and recommend revisions as needed.
  • Evaluate environmental cleaning products, disinfectants, skin preparation products, and infection prevention practices.
  • Educate staff, physicians, and patients regarding infection prevention and control.
  • Serve as an active member of the Quality Committee by reporting infection prevention indicators and surveillance findings.
  • Promote regulatory compliance with CDC, CMS, AAAHC, OSHA, and state infection prevention standards.
Regulatory Compliance & Leadership
  • Maintain knowledge of CMS Conditions for Coverage, Ohio Administrative Code, ACHC standards, OSHA requirements, and other applicable regulations.
  • Assist leadership in preparing for accreditation and regulatory surveys.
  • Participate in policy review, development, and implementation.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for staff.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with physicians and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Participate in orientation, competency validation, and ongoing staff education.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required
  • Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Ohio
