PRODUCE/CLERK – Kroger
Job DescriptionCreate an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service, establishing and maintaining a safe and clean environment that encourages customers to return. Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals for the department, monitor all quality assurance standards, and embrace the Customer 1st strategy. Demonstrate Kroger’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
Responsibilities- Role model the 3A’s of Friendly: acknowledge, assist, and appreciate customers.
- Promote corporate brands and build trust and respect among associates.
- Create an environment that welcomes customers and answers questions about products.
- Maintain product knowledge and provide suggestions to meet customer needs.
- Assist with preparing produce platters/trays and inform customers of specials.
- Recommend items to ensure customers receive desired products.
- Prepare, package, label, and inventory merchandise appropriately.
- Inspect products for quality and freshness, and take action on non‑conforming items.
- Stock, label, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report ordering and shipping discrepancies to the manager.
- Maintain a positive attitude and stay current with promotions and ads.
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
- Enforce safety programs, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
- Perform preventive maintenance and report equipment issues.
- Report accidents and all safety risks or illegal activity to store management.
- Work cooperatively in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues.
- Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- Effective communication skills.
- Basic math skills (counting, addition, and subtraction).
- Current food handler's permit once employed.
- Comparable retail experience.
- Second language proficiency (speaking, reading, and/or writing).
