Provides responsible financial, administrative, clerical, and customer services in order to ensure effective, efficient, and accurate financial operations. Prepares and maintains fiscal records, prepares and posts transactions, verifies invoices, receipts revenues, responds to customer inquiries, and performs routine calculations. Prepares and maintains a variety of accounting records including but not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, grants, and subsidiary accounts.
EssentialJob Functions
- Maintains cash receipts journal, audit vouchers, and determines that they are properly coded and in posting order before payment.
- Prepares monthly financial reports, including balance sheets, statements of changes in fund balances and statements of adjusted appropriations.
- Prepares and delivers requests for bids for investments. Maintains files and records investments.
- Oversees maintenance of various revenue, appropriation, and other similar records.
- Prepares monthly financial reports, budget projections, and similar actions.
- Reconciles, audits and analyzes financial reports, statements, and related documents.
- Reviews requests for payments and prepares checks and supporting documents.
- Reviews payroll entries and assists with the preparation of payroll related reports.
- Assists with fixed asset records, including annual physical inventory and surplus property.
- Plans, organizes, and supervises.
- Supports the Clerk’s Office through in-person, regular attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Knowledge of governmental accounting theory, principles and practices and their application to a wide variety of accounting transactions and problems.
- Knowledge of state laws, rules and regulations governing accounting procedures and governmental administration.
- Ability to analyze financial transactions and prepare complex financial reports and statements.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- Ability to make sound independent judgments.
- Ability to plan, organize, and supervise the work of others.
- Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with fellow employees, other governmental agencies, county staff and commissioners, attorneys, judges, and the general public.
- Knowledge/experience of spreadsheets/word processing environments.
Graduation from an accredited university or college with a four-year degree in accounting. One year of general accounting experience, preferable in a governmental environment.
Physical Requirements- Seeing: Constantly required to see at close range and at a distance; and have the ability to adjust focus associated with the constant use of computer monitors.
