Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Oversee accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes
- Validate and review monthly financial reports for accuracy and completeness
- Manage journal entries, inter-departmental transfers, commitment control, and related processes
- Maintain the integrity of the General Ledger through effective oversight
- Oversee Chart Field structure and tree maintenance to align with University needs
- Develop and maintain understanding of Annual Financial Report requirements
- Provide accounting guidance and support to University departments
- Assist departments with reporting requirements and reconciliations
- Promote and maintain a strong customer-service-focused environment
- Design and deliver workshops and training sessions, as needed
- Evaluate and improve business processes to enhance service quality
- Resolve complex issues and respond to accounting-related inquiries
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships across organizational units.
- Monitor and support implementation of accounting principles and standards
- Ensure compliance with state, regulatory, and industry guidelines
- Investigate General Ledger discrepancies and resolve data integrity issues
- Support continuous improvement in accounting accuracy and compliance
- Supervise and support direct reports and student interns
- Conduct performance management, coaching, and evaluations
- Identify training needs and support professional development plans
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
Contribute to special assignments and initiatives as needed to support departmental goals
Expected Salary: $70k - $80k
Preferred Qualifications- Licensure as a State of Florida Certified Public Accountant preferred, but not required.
- This position requires a strong knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), specifically as these principles relate to college and university technical accounting, fund accounting and financial reporting. GASB experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Ability to analyze and solve problems, interpret, and recommend solutions or changes
- Excellent customer service skills, including strong written and verbal communications skills, as well as the ability to work with individuals.
