Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Oversee accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes
• Validate and review monthly financial reports for accuracy and completeness
• Manage journal entries, inter-departmental transfers, commitment control, and related processes
• Maintain the integrity of the General Ledger through effective oversight
• Oversee Chart Field structure and tree maintenance to align with University needs
• Develop and maintain understanding of Annual Financial Report requirements

• Provide accounting guidance and support to University departments
• Assist departments with reporting requirements and reconciliations
• Promote and maintain a strong customer-service-focused environment
• Design and deliver workshops and training sessions, as needed
• Evaluate and improve business processes to enhance service quality
• Resolve complex issues and respond to accounting-related inquiries
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships across organizational units.

• Monitor and support implementation of accounting principles and standards
• Ensure compliance with state, regulatory, and industry guidelines
• Investigate General Ledger discrepancies and resolve data integrity issues
• Support continuous improvement in accounting accuracy and compliance

• Supervise and support direct reports and student interns
• Conduct performance management, coaching, and evaluations
• Identify training needs and support professional development plans
• Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement

Contribute to special assignments and initiatives as needed to support departmental goals

Expected Salary: $70k - $80k

• Licensure as a State of Florida Certified Public Accountant preferred, but not required.
• This position requires a strong knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), specifically as these principles relate to college and university technical accounting, fund accounting and financial reporting. GASB experience preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Outlook, and Word
• Ability to analyze and solve problems, interpret, and recommend solutions or changes
• Excellent customer service skills, including strong written and verbal communications skills, as well as the ability to work with individuals.
