Responsibilities:
- Answer incoming calls from patients, physicians, attorneys, and other Health Center personnel; distribute calls appropriately, respond to emergency calls, and take accurate and legible messages.
- Transfer department phones at the end of each business day to the answering service and re‑instantiate the service each morning; retrieve electronic messages taken overnight.
- Serve as departmental receptionist: greet visitors, route them to their destinations, and respond independently to information requests regarding the department.
- Update telephone name displays and submit service requests for adding or changing telephone lines, voicemail, and telephone equipment repairs.
- Check patient appointment dates/times upon request.
- Sign for, receive, and distribute all incoming packages from Federal Express and United Parcel Service; maintain a log of received packages including recipient signatures; order Federal Express supplies.
- Back up obtaining radiological films and clinical notes for cases reviewed in the Neuropathology conference; maintain reports of the same.
- Back up assembling materials for weekly Tumor Conference, including films, records, and other pertinent information; retrieve information from the hospital information system, compile a list of patient records, and ensure all paperwork is available.
- Log in and log out on the departmental database for radiological films; maintain the department's inventory of keys.
- Maintain inventory of general office supplies, order supplies under the administrator’s supervision and within the established budget; manage inventory of departmental pagers and lab coats.
- Report office equipment failures (copier, fax machine, beepers) and follow up to ensure repairs are carried out.
- Pick up and distribute office and U.S. mail according to the office schedule.
- Perform copying, filing, and faxing duties.
Expected Salary: $16.75–$19.25 per hour
Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications- Knowledge of correct spelling and grammar.
- Ability to verify data for accuracy and completeness.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Previous medical and customer service experience.
