Overview
To provide general clerical support to the patients and staff of a patient care unit by functioning as receptionist, transcriber, monitor of medical records, and information/communication specialist. The Unit Clerk provides administrative support to achieve the organization's mission of excellent patient care and nursing's vision of setting a new standard of excellence in autonomous and accountable nursing practice committed to patient advocacy and innovative patient care in a climate of trust and collaboration.

Qualifications
Minimum
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Understanding of medical terminology preferred.
- Demonstrated continuous work experience required.
- Previous clerical experience preferred. Work experience in positions requiring extensive phone contact, public contact, or public service preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours/shift and to alternate weekend.
- Also, must successfully complete 12-hour computer (HIS/LRIS) training course and Clerical Training Program.
- Clear speech and legible handwriting.
- Ability to handle multiple demands/requests simultaneously; attention to detail; manual dexterity; typewriter keyboard/computer familiarity.
- Two years of college preferred.
