Job Description

The Prospect Strategy Analyst (PSA) serves as a key partner to colleges/units with regard to prospect strategy, research, and analysis. The position ensures excellence in service to fundraisers in pipeline development and portfolio management, including training and communication. This position will collaborate closely with Advancement Intelligence teams on institution-wide strategic initiatives and to develop and implement departmental and organizational policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Research:
    Provide professional prospect development, analytical research, and information services in support of the fundraising goals and objectives of UF Advancement.
  • Identify and assess financial capacity, philanthropic tendencies, giving propensity and connections to UF for major gift prospects in support of fundraising goals and objectives.
  • Prepare thorough, accurate and timely profiles on UF constituents (alumni, friends, parents, corporations and foundations) as needed to support fundraising initiatives.
  • Use a variety of analytical techniques to resolve or provide information regarding complex research and data problems.
  • Utilize a variety of reference materials, online databases, Internet, and governmental or other agency resources to obtain information on prospects or funding sources for gifts to the University.
  • Develop a comprehensive knowledge of the donor database and expertise in retrieval of information.
  • Work closely with Data Integrity and other departments to update critical information and maintain integrity in the database.
Special Projects
  • Attend and participate in meetings, work groups, committees and other internal responsibilities.
  • Assist with special campaign projects as identified by leadership, which may include leading a workgroup, conducting targeted research and analysis, partnering with units and internal groups, and developing and executing recommendations.
  • Participate in Governance committees as Subject Matter Experts representing PSR and Development staff.
  • Other Special Assignments
  • Work on other special projects as assigned (e.g. University priority projects, planning and conducting internal and/or external training, etc.), as assigned by the Senior Director and/or Assistant Director, of your assigned vertical.
  • In this capacity you will be responsible for all planning, tracking and communication regarding the assigned project.
  • Specific metrics for the special project will be assigned during the annual performance appraisal and planning process.
Portfolio Management
  • Act as a strategic partner to assigned development officers (DOs) within colleges/units in prospect strategy development and documentation.
  • Identify creative, strategic methods to help development officers engage prospects.
  • Recommend and implement prospect assignments and develop quality prospect pools for development officers.
  • Meet regularly with assigned DOs to fully comprehend and gain thorough knowledge and understanding of assigned campaign priorities, DO portfolios and short/long term prospect goals.
  • Conduct quarterly GPS meetings with all assigned DOs to facilitate strategic conversations regarding the management of prospects, pipeline development, and portfolio strength.
  • Provide ongoing analysis of portfolios, moves and stages.
Tools, Training & Communication
  • Drive a consistent approach to research and prospect management across units through regular communication with unit leadership and staff, ongoing training, and alignment with campaign priorities.
  • Contribute to evaluation and refinement of research tools and departmental policies and procedures.
